The stopbox is plastic but sturdy. I don’t really have a concern with its ability to keep small hands out of it. With that being said, my 16 year old son opened it within seconds of trying to open it. I changed the code and he was still able to figure it out in under a minute. It’s great for small kids I’m sure, just not older kids or adults. It would surely slow someone down though. It does offer some peace of mind during transport. No safe or lockbox is full proof. Bottom line is it serves its intended purpose. Nothing more, nothing less. I would still recommend this product to just about any gun owner.
The Stopbox is a great idea and product. Being a former Marine weapon safety means everything to me. I always carry, but when my weapon is not on my body I love having a safe spot for it and it’s away from my children. The best part is it is always within reach. Great job Stopbox.
The StopBox delivered on every advertised promise flawlessly. It arrived quickly, is extremely easy to use, has very clear instructions on how to change the finger combinations for personal preference. I bought two, one for myself and one for my wife. After a little practice we were both able to get into them and access our firearms quickly enough to be able to use them if needed. We purchased them because we have a toddler that is extremely smart and wanted something to store our firearms safely away from him without having to store them in our safe that takes too long to get into if a situation presented itself such as an intruder entering our home. StopBox fulfilled that perfectly and we’re very happy that we purchased them.
I will admit there are several Pro's and 1 Con.
PRO: easy to set and change the combination. No Battery or electronics so no effect by EMP, Most rugged. Pitched it off the house with my gun in it and it remained locked. weapon and optic were fine and still accurate. Easy and quick to open (with one drawback). CON: Difficult to open on the first try. takes practice. Lots of practice. I made the combination difficult by using the (2) keys so they are only pressed halfway. Practice, practice, practice, After about two days, I was able to open the box on the first try in under 2 seconds. It's the pushing down while opening that's tricky. Overall this is the best product I have seen on the market to keep the gun both safe and accessible.
Got my stopbox because of my grandkids I keep my hand guns close all the time you never know when you might need them now they are close and safe love it
