StopBox USA Introduces Co‑Pilot, a Rapid‑Access Vehicle Pistol Lockbox

A mechanical hand-gesture lock, ambidextrous design and no-drill installation give handgun owners a dedicated place beside the vehicle seat.

StopBox USA today introduced Co-Pilot, a mechanical rapid-access lockbox that gives a handgun its own dedicated place in a vehicle. Co-Pilot brings the company's patented hand-gesture lock into an entirely new, vehicle-specific design that mounts beside the seat, next to the center console. It will be available in November 2026.

For many handgun owners, the vehicle is the hardest place to keep good storage habits. Glove boxes and center consoles were built for registration papers and charging cables, not for a firearm. Co-Pilot was designed to answer that with one consistent location: secured to the seat, retained discreetly, and positioned within reach of the driver.

The product grew out of founder Dylan Ervin's own search for a better way to keep a handgun in a vehicle.

Co-Pilot started with a problem I experienced firsthand. I wanted a better way to keep my handgun secure, accessible, and in a dedicated place in my vehicle. Rather than settle for what was available, we decided to build something entirely new. I'm incredibly proud of what we've created.”

Rapid access

Ready-to-draw deployment

Co-Pilot opens with StopBox's patented hand-gesture lock, a mechanical finger code the owner sets. There are no batteries to replace, no electronics and nothing to charge.

Entering the code opens Co-Pilot and presents the pistol grip-up in a natural, ergonomic position, so the owner reaches for it the same way every time.

Ambidextrous design

Either side. Most vehicles.

Co-Pilot is the first fully ambidextrous StopBox. It is designed to work on either side of the center console, for right-handed or left-handed users.

It fits most vehicles and a wide range of pistols, from compact handguns to full-size models.

Universal fit

No drilling. No permanent changes.

The Universal Seat Adapter fits most vehicles and installs with no drilling and no permanent modification to the vehicle.

A rubber-coated steel security cable secures the system to the seat base.

Dual-layer security

A second lock, built in.

An integrated mechanical key lock adds another layer of security on top of the hand-gesture lock. The housing is made from high-strength polycarbonate-ABS.
